The frosty bonus experience will remain until the end of Frostfell, Tuesday January 6, 2009. Enjoy the holidays!\nFan Faire Workshop Quests: At the 2008 SOE Fan Faire in Las Vegas, several EverQuest players got a chance to participate in a Quest Workshop where members of the EQ Development team walked them through the quest creation process. The following quests have been implemented this update:\nGyrospire Relocator: Researcher Stripcog has unearthed a device that will allow a being to teleport to the top of each of the gyrospires. Unfortunately, he needs the assistance of others to help get the device working again. This quest was implemented with the assistance of Shadowkiller of Stromm, Ledau of Prexus, and Brasse, Cheremoya, Palarran, Starrla, Xapp, Sumdaye and Numayre from The Tribunal.\nKicking Tail: Scribe Choone’s party, attempting to help Choone research a story for Gimblefixx, was ambushed and nearly wiped out, save Scribe Choone himself. Choone wants the players to thin out the minotaur warriors enough for his mission to continue, and especially to kill the big mean taskmaster known as Higoren. See Scribe Choone in Dragonscale Hills to find out more. This quest was implemented with the assistance of Hellbent of Firiona Vie, Nizgog, Aroraskie, Indico, and Rigss of Erollisi Marr, and Hulkling of The Tribunal.\nImproved linkdead Recovery: We've decreased the amount of time linkdead players will have to wait to log back in because of a stuck character.\nImproved camera control: We added the ability to rotate the 3rd person camera (the one you get when you use the mousewheel) using the left mouse button. This allows you to move the camera around your character without rotating the character.  This is very similar to the way 3rd person cameras work in many other games.\nHot Zone Tasks: In addition to reminding players about the current Hot Zones, Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge now offers tasks for the most recent Hot Zones.\nTSS Flag Requirements Removed: Removed the flag requirements for The Serpent Spine (TSS) expansion raids to enter the raid zones as long as you are level 74 or higher. The person requesting the raids will still be required to have the proper flags to request the raid.\nSoF Crystal Drops Increased: Increased the number of Oil Stained Crystals that are dropped at the conclusion of the final event in Meldrath’s Mansion from six to twelve. \nLesson of the Devoted Improved: The Veteran AA Lesson of the Devoted will no longer be removed by death.\nBard Type 3 Augments: Added Bard type 3 augments to SoF and SoD faction vendors.\nWeapon Ratio Changes: Some of the Seeds of Destruction (SoD) group weapons had their ratios further tweaked. This is a completion of some previous changes that didn’t quite make last Update.\nNew Icons for the Original Epics: With the newly discovered old set of icons, we gave the original epic 1.0s their intended art (for the original 1.0 epics that had one made).\nPhysical Resist Changes:  Made tuning adjustments (downward) on many NPCs that had higher-than-expected resistances to Physical Attacks (Such as the Monk Eye Gouge attack). These attacks should be much more reliable now.\n*** Items ***\n\nAdded Bard type 3 augments to SoF and SoD faction vendors.\nSome of the SoD group weapons had their ratios further tweaked. This is a completion of some previous changes that didn’t quite make last Update.\nWith the newly discovered old set of icons, we gave the original epic 1.0s their intended art (for the original 1.0 epics that had one made).\nThe Master Artisan Satchel should no longer display haste effect information when a haste item is placed inside it.\n*** Spells ***\n\nMade more tradeskill-created spells tradable on Firiona Vie.\nSwapped the Earthen Embrace and Serpent Vines spells back to their proper items.\nThe effect from the Aura of Rodcet will now pulse every 6 seconds instead of being a persistent effect, allowing its effect to stack with Lich and Clarity lines.\nThe mana boost from the Aura of Rodcet now mimics the effect of Cantata / Chorus of Rodcet.\nPuratus, Fulkitcher Weave, and Cantata of Courage spells should now work properly.\nBards will no longer have their mana drained by the spell Mana Ignite, though they should still take damage from the spell.\n*** NPCs ***\n\nAdded some of the special resistances, like mez and stun, on the rare/named NPCs in Korafax, Field of Scale and Old Bloodfield.\nFixed an issue that was causing some mobs in Old Bloodfield to despawn unexpectedly.\nPhysical Resist Changes: Made tuning adjustments (downward) on many NPCs that had higher-than-expected resistances to Physical Attacks (Such as the Monk Eye Gouge attack). These attacks should be much more reliable now.\nRathework Guardians are now a good deal faster than they were before.\n*** Quests ***\n\nImplemented the Fan Faire quest \"Kicking Tail.\" See Scribe Choone in Dragonscale Hills to find out more.\nThe Fan Faire quest Gyrospire Relocation has been implemented. Find Researcher Stripcog in Mechanotus for more information.\nIn addition to reminding players about the current Hot Zones, Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge is pleased to once again offer tasks that take place in these zones.\nThe Old Bloodfields quest called \"Deliver the Message\" is now a shared task. We also fixed issues that could cause it to fail to update.\nSlowed down the respawn rate in the Permafrost Frostfell mission.\n*** Raids ***\n\nIncreased the number of Oil Stained Crystals that are dropped at the conclusion of the final event in Meldrath’s Mansion from six to twelve. \nRemoved the flag requirements for TSS raids to enter the raid zones as long as you are level 74 or higher. The person requesting the raids will still be required to have the proper flags to request the raid.\nThe Stasis room raid reset should no longer get stuck in a loop.\nThe Kaesora raid will now reset after 15 minutes or if all council members are idle.\nThe Ritualists in the second phase of the Kithicor raid will no longer damage the storyline NPCs while they are idle.  It should still be necessary to engage the correct group of ritualists shortly after the message: “A dark energy begins to build to the *direction* of the combatants.”  However, it should no longer be necessary to engage all of them simultaneously.\nThe area near the entrance doorway will no longer be a safe spot during the Mindblight raid.\n*** AA ***\n\nThe Veteran AA Lesson of the Devoted will no longer be removed by death.\nThe Enchanter AA Self Stasis should be more reliable at removing players from combat as they enter stasis.\n*** Mercenaries ***\n\nAdded a new /merclog command that logs information for the player's mercenary (if they have one) to MercenaryAILog.txt. This command can only be executed once per minute. Also, added a new \"mercenaries\" bug type to the /bug window. Any bugs submitted with this type also generates the MercenaryAILog.txt file (if the player owns a merc and the merc is not dead/suspended).\nUnshrouding should no longer require an upgrade cost in cases where you have not gained a level.\nFixed an issue that caused a healer mercenary not to heal you if you temporarily interrupted the incoming damage (say, with weapon shield). \n*** Miscellaneous ***\n\nImproved linkdead recovery: We've decreased the amount of time linkdead players will have to wait to log back in because of a stuck character.\nIf you attempt to login to the world when that account is already logged in, you will now be prompted as to whether you wish to kick off the currently logged in player.   The logged in player (if it is truly logged in and not link dead) will be prompted whether they wish to allow themselves to be kicked off.\nWhen going linkdead in combat, a 30 second delay is enforced before the kick is executed.\nWhen going linkdead while out of combat a 5 second delay is enforced before the kick is executed.\nImproved camera control: We added the ability to rotate the 3rd person camera (the one you get when you use the mousewheel) using the left mouse button. This allows you to move the camera around your character without rotating the character.  This is very similar to the way 3rd person cameras work in many other games.\nCorrected an issue that prevented further purchases after opening a Consigned Armor Bundle in the marketplace.\nCorrected an error message if an account does not have a credit card on file for the marketplace.\nModifications have been made to messaging in order to remove the redundancy of messages popping up for funding the wallet.\n*** UI ***\n\nBuff icons from effects that are not removed by death should no longer disappear after receiving a resurrection.\nFixed an issue preventing targeting players or entities by clicking on their HP gauges.\nChanging the volume in the in-game music player should now work correctly again.\n \n\n- Changed -\n\nEQUI_Animations.xml\nEQUI_GroupWindow.xml\nEQUI_MusicPlayerWnd.xml\nEQUI_PlayerWindow.xml\nEQUI_TargetOfTargetWindow.xml\n\n~ The EverQuest Team","content_hash":"966e3b207137e8474bf6892a77ef2c31b29ee15b63ac60b2c14f2f4af0414d9e","source_files":["patches-2008-2.txt","patches_1999-2010_combined.txt"],"source_titles":["December 23, 2008"],"source_url":null,"source_urls":[],"occurrence_count":2,"source_occurrences":[{"occurrence_id":"33a87538827957faf32229f405a69395ecfc497836adfdfab26ecb5fc6f52a6a","filename":"patches_1999-2010_combined.txt","adapter":"text","source_offset":1118276,"item_index":null,"heading":"December 23, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"text","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false},{"occurrence_id":"6c28e9ffc8504aba97d8406f1d188c55c3d4174e47b280b2ca88e188d7e9d786","filename":"patches-2008-2.txt","adapter":"text","source_offset":76751,"item_index":null,"heading":"December 23, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"text","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false}],"year_inferred":false,"sequence":1,"slug":"2008-12-23-1","id":"2008-12-23-1"},{"patch_date":"2008-12-09","effective_date":"2008-12-09","display_date":"December 9, 2008","title":"December 9, 2008","year":2008,"month":12,"kind":"live","era":"EverQuest Live","expansion":"Seeds of Destruction","expansion_code":"seeds-of-destruction","categories":[{"slug":"bug-fixes","label":"Bug Fixes"},{"slug":"classes","label":"Classes"},{"slug":"spells-aa","label":"Spells & AA"},{"slug":"items","label":"Items"},{"slug":"zones-npcs","label":"Zones & NPCs"},{"slug":"quests-events","label":"Quests & Events"},{"slug":"tradeskills","label":"Tradeskills"},{"slug":"ui","label":"UI"},{"slug":"pvp","label":"PvP"},{"slug":"servers","label":"Servers"},{"slug":"expansions","label":"Expansions"}],"sections":["Highlights","Items","Spells","Quests","Raids","NPCs","Tradeskills","AA","Zones","Mercenaries","Miscellaneous","Previously Hotfixed","UI"],"change_count":162,"word_count":3793,"summary":"Here is the patch message from this morning. It's a big one, so get settled:\n\n*** Highlights *** \n\n- Frostfell: As the air starts to chill and the frost begins to cover the ground, the season of Frostfell begins. No holiday season is perfect though and a couple of your fellow Norrathians need your help to make Frostfell a merry holiday for all! Visit your favorite major city and the Plane of Knowledge to find out how you can help. The season of Frostfell will embrace Norrath from December 9th through January 8th. Various events new and old will be available at different intervals throughout the season. So make sure you join in the fun before Frostfell is over for another year. \n\n- New Hot zones: The following Zones are now \"Hot\" with additional experience and item rewards. Additionally Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge will be happy to remind you of the current Hot Zones! \n\nLevel 20: Stonebrunt Mountains \nLevel 25: Crystal Caverns \nLevel 30: The Overthere \nLevel 35: Mons Letalis \nLevel 40: Great Divide \nLevel 45: Nagafens Lair \nLevel 50: Plane of Innovation \nLevel 55: Sshraeshza Temple \nLevel 60: Crypt of Decay \nLevel 65: Stoneroot Falls \nLevel 70: Valdeholm \nLevel 75: Dreadspire Keep\n\n*** Items *** \n\n- Added backstab skill modifiers to Seeds of Destruction Piercing weapons. \n- Adjusted the nomenclature for some SoF items with corruption damage foci. The focus percentages did not change, only the names. \n- Altered the required level for the procs on the \"fine weapons\" to match the required level of the symbol instead of the recommended level. The exceptions to this are the Blessed symbols which require level 11. \n- Changed the appearance of the player-crafted \"fine\" long hammers. \n- Changed the focus effect on the Gleaming Ursine Fang to match the focus on the base item. \n- Class-specific armor for Clerics, Druids, and Shaman has had healing foci added to match the SoD armor. Clerics and Shaman will now have healing foci on their arms, while Druids will have healing foci on their wrists. \n- Druadic Frostlinked Leggings and Necrotic Chillsteel Greaves have had a detrimental spell haste focus added to match the other elemental leggings. \n- Fixed an issue with the Familiar of the Emerald Jungle that was causing it to behave differently from other familiars. \n- Many Elaborate Defiant weapons have been upgraded slightly to follow the group item changes. \n- Many SoF and all SoD group weapons have received a damage upgrade. Please be aware that some of these items are still being adjusted and may change further in a subsequent patch. \n- SoD weapons with elemental damage did not all have the element that was intended. These have been changed to the intended element. \n- The Bloodreaper has changed appearance and effect. \n- The click effect on Darkened Shining Metallic Robes now uses its own recast timer and will not interfere with other effects. \n- The Crystal Dewdrop will now have some benefit even when it is not raining or snowing. \n- The Dagger of Darkflaying's appearance has changed. \n- A new set of Defiant armor has appeared. \n\n*** Spells *** \n\n- Corrected an issue that was causing the focused versions of pets summoned by the beastlord spell \"Spirit of Hoshkar\" to take more melee damage than they were intended to. \n- Dropdown category for Spell Damage and Haste combination songs is now \"Haste/Spell Focus\" instead of either or both. \n- Paladin and Shadowknight damage reduction disciplines should now stack with all other spells that use the same effect. This change applies to the \"Armor of \" and \" Carapace\" lines. \n- Range on Rogue targeted abilities has been increased. \n- Range on the Necromancer's Withering Decay and Enchanter's Dominating Aura effects has been increased. \n- Tempest Blade is now an aura named Aura of Rodcet that mimics the functionality of the Cantata of Rodcet. \n- The damaging proc effect from Bard's Tempest Blade song has been consolidated with Arcane Arietta. \n- The global cooldown for spells previously set between 1.5 to 2.5s has been reduced to 1.5s. \n- The hate reduction effect from Mindfreeze should no longer have stacking issues with other effects. \n- The Malo and Tash lines should no longer interfere with out of combat regeneration. \n- The Mindfreeze hate reduction effect will now stack with the Bazu Bellow line. \n- The Necromancer SoF robe clicky now spawns a short duration pet instead of bestowing casting haste. Higher tier versions of the click increase the pet's lifespan. \n- The Rogue SoF breastplate clicky has had its average damage increased slightly. Higher tier versions of the effect now increase the damage done per proc, instead of the increasing the effect's duration. The duration on both versions is now 2 minutes. \n- The Wizard SoF robe clicky will now work on higher level spells, albeit at a reduced effectiveness. \n- Type 3 augmentation bonuses should no longer benefit additional spells. For example: Icesheet Cascade / Klixcxyk's Fire improving the damage of Ethereal Conflagration. \n\n*** Quests *** \n- Addressed some faction issues that were causing NPCs in the Safe Passage mission to assist the wrong group. \n- Fixed a bug with Captain Tillin in Oceangreen Hills. He will now always give out his tasks in order. \n- Fixed the reset issues with the task in Old Bloodfields called Supply Interruption. If the task is not completed within 20 minutes of the flags being placed, the event will clean up and the task is failed. \n- Guards in missions in Toskirakk and Kaesora will not be so easily fooled by hiding from them. \n- Heralds in each of Seeds of Destruction's five eras will now offer a new quest. Each day the heralds will select one mission and grant players a bonus for completing that mission, as long as they have accepted the new quest from the Heralds. \n- Killing Silliv` Host will now properly update the task \"The Cabilisian Trade Route.\" \n- Malaurin V`Kon will now reset much more quickly after a failure of the Disruptive Influences task. \n- Modified the quest Favors of the Hopelost in City of Dranik to remove unwarranted faction hits. \n- Navrn K`Val, Thaliv T`Kysh and Vyntal Zintha now carry the false orders. \n- People on the \"Let my people go\" task must now complete the first two elements before speaking with Lymrit again to complete the task. \n- Reduced the number of Army of Light Longswords needed to complete the Take Everything task in Bloody Kithicor. \n- Reduced the number of Poachers that need to be killed for Poach the Poachers in Oceangreen Hills to 4. \n- The necromancers in the Drake Scourge task will update the group's task more reliably now. \n- The quest \"Disruptive Influences\" is now much less likely to get out of sync, so should be much easier to complete. II\" to make it more properly fit the spell research system. \n- Some \"fine\" simple weapons received an upgrade in damage. \n- The Drink of Timeless Energy is now made with simmering fairy drake dust, and can also be made with any of the elemental spirit dusts (earth, air, fire, water). \n- The level 69 Dragons of Norrath spells and tomes created through research are now tradable on all servers. \n- The Researcher Charm can now be used by all classes. \n- The slot 12 seals from Crystallos have been made to fit in the seven visible armor slots, and are no longer agnostic only. \n\n*** AA *** \n\n- A new AA has been added to the Seeds of Destruction List for Bards - Sionachie's Crescendo. \n- Adjusted the slot order on the Ranger AA Group Guardian of the Forest to prevent a stacking conflict with other spells that have a Chance Spell. \n- Adjusted the spell casting range of Fog of Memories (Enchanter AA). \n- Adjusted the stacking of Second Spire of Enchantment (Enchanter AA). \n- Re-enabled the SoD AA Extended Ingenuity. Bards, Monks, Warriors, Rogues and Berserkers will now be able to purchase this AA. \n- The AA Fortified Entanglement (Wizard) now requires the purchase of Hastened Root 4 to resolve a conflict between these two AAs, making your roots less reliable if you had not purchased both. \n- The heal over time component of the highest ranks of Lay on Hands will now go to the short buff window. \n- The Ranger AA Hastened Trueshot will now focus the Sureshot Discipline. \n- The Rogue AA Sleight of Hand should now stack with the Envenomed Blades AA. \n- Veil of Mindshadow spells will now have a wear off message. \n\n*** Zones *** \n\n- Replaced the missing door on the merchant vs. merchant ship instances in the Buried Sea. \n- Savet Ironstove now properly advertises what he sells. \n\n*** Mercenaries *** \n\n- Healer mercenaries will give less priority to healing shamen that are not flagged as the main tank role and that are not being directly attacked. This should allow them to be a bit friendlier with regards to cannibalize. \n- Mercenaries should be friendlier to feign splitting techniques. If the puller feigns in camp before the merc has a chance to react, the merc will not attack the mobs hostile only to the puller. \n- Mercenaries will no longer attack enemies that are currently engaging targets outside their group (or group's pets). \n- The camp radius now scales somewhat dynamically in that if your group is widely spaced, the radius around the group's center considered \"in camp\" to the AI is increased to avoid a situation where you've pulled an NPC past one of the group's members, but the AI still does not react to it. The minimum camp radius from group center is still 50feet as it was before. \n- Healer mercenaries will no longer cast heal spells on themselves that have an invulnerability component, as the AI was never tuned to do this at the right time, and it leads to problems with the mercs appearing to be unresponsive. \n- Increased the timer for how often a merc will attempt to resurrect a corpse when the res is not accepted from 2 minutes to 5 minutes. \n- The ability to suspend/un-suspend a mercenaries is now locked when in combat and when the player still has a cool-down timer on PvP servers. For standard rule servers, the cool-down timer still does not factor into this, suspend/un-suspend can be done immediately after the hatelist is cleared. \n- Tank mercenaries will now default to following their owner (or group) when there are no melee targets even when in combat. \n- Mercenary Clerics should no longer cast their spell haste buff on classes that have no mana. \n- Mercenaries now appear with a ':' before their name in the tracking window, similar to pets. \n- Fixed a bug that allowed a mercenary to keep the effects of an aura permanently after the aura was no longer present. \n- Fixed a problem that caused some players that zoned slowly to not be able to unsuspend their mercenary after they zoned. \n- Mercenary healers will now only dispel buffs on enemies when in aggressive stance. Since aggressive stance isn't currently in the game (though it may return at some point) healer mercs will no longer be dispelling for now. \n- Mercenaries should no longer become bald after various illusions. \n- Added a new \"Assist\" stance for Journeyman and above tank mercs that allows them to operate in essentially a DPS mode. If the tank merc is in Assist stance and not designated the main tank it will not use any off-tanking behavior like it does when in Aggressive stance. It will attack whatever the main assist is targeting (or whatever it last attacked it there is no main assist) and continue to do so until the main assist switches targets. If in Assist mode and designated the main tank the tank merc should behave the same as it does in Aggressive stance. \n- Fixed a problem where if you had maxed out your buff slots, healer mercenaries would no longer heal you. \n- Fixed a problem that caused the AI to be blind to damage taken from certain spells like Blood Magic or Divine Arbitration. \n- Fixed a problem where mercenaries were counting toward the hit limit for rain type spells, causing them to have fewer pulses when in the area of effect. \n- Merc healers will no longer cure charmed pets. \n- Mercenary \"in camp\" radius is no longer a sphere. It is now more of a disc to help with problems of mercs healing, etc. when a puller is on a floor above or below. \n- Merc healer AI will no longer cast cure spells if somone in the group is at lower than 50% health. \n- Mercs will no longer move out of melee range of their target if they are casting a beneficial spells (heals, buffs). This should cut down on a fair amount of unnecessary movement. \n- Mercs should no longer run off to follow someone across the zone when their owner is set as puller. They will only follow another group member other than their owner if that other group member is within their awareness radius (about 200 ft.). \n- Fixed an issue with out of combat healing AI doing a lot of over healing. \n- PvP spell resist and duration values are now used when hostile spells are exchanged between a merc and a PC (for non PvP servers this only applies to the Arena). \n- Fixed an issue with merc suspend timers counting down too fast if a custom UI had multiple instances of the timer display. \n- Fixed a problem where mercenaries would go bald when removing an illusion and zoning. \n- After carefully watching mercenaries since SoD launch some balance changes are being made: \n-- You will no longer be able to suspend or unsuspend your mercenary while you are in combat. \n-- Journeyman mercenaries will now cast 96% resurrection. Apprentice mercenaries are limited to 90% res. \n-- Increased the stats of the Tank Mercenaries starting at the Journeyman tier. The values are tuned to be less than what an equivalently geared player would be but is higher than previous values for various mitigation and avoidance stats useful for a tank. \n\n*** Miscellaneous *** \n\n- Corrected a few Stability issues. \n- Implemented new Hot Zones! Franklin Teek in Plane of Knowledge will be happy to remind you of the current Hot Zones. \n- Modified the pathing in the old commons zone. \n- Fixed a bug that was causing power sources to only be drained when out of combat. Now they only drain while in combat instead. \n- The NPC buy/sell/bank window will no longer disappear when the game client is re-sized. \n- Made tuning adjustments (downward) on many NPCs that had higher-than-expected resistances to Physical Attacks (Such as the Monk Eye Gouge attack). These attacks should be much more reliable now. \n- Rathework guardians have moved out of the inner sanctum of the Rathe Council Chambers. \n- Guards in missions in Toskirakk and Kaesora will not be so easily fooled by hiding from them. \n- Players can now decline a group invite when they own a mercenary. \n- Fixed a problem that caused player traps (e.g., fadelure, fire rune, bonestitch fetish) to trigger on pets/mounts/mercs, causing all kinds of havoc. \n- The incorrect boosts to HP/mana/endurance have been brought back in line with what they should have been. Please see other posts on this subject for more information. \n- Fixed a bug that caused stun effects to wear off the moment mez effects did. This meant that if you stunned a mezzed mob, it would wake up immediately. Now it will not wake up until the stun wears off. \n- Fixed a bug that caused certain spells that triggered casting of more spells (like Spectralside and Unity of Spirits) to overwrite each other even though that was not intended. \n- Power sources will once again change the color of the affected stats in that slot. \n- The potion belt now conveys the cool down timers on potions. \n- The Emerald Sokokar will now behave like other familiars. \n- NPC Strikethrough will no longer penetrate defensive disciplines like Weapon Shield, Deflection, Deftdance, etc. \n- Fixed a client crash for the quest Arachnophobia. \n- Fixed an issue with proximity aggro. \n- Fixed a problem with certain AAs with illusion components that allowed them to be used with no reuse timer if you had another illusion on you. \n- Fixed a client crash when your pet got more than 30 effects on it. \n- Corrected an issue that caused guilded characters to be forcably placed in the guild voice channel upon zoning. \n- Changed the way charges are deducted from consumable click items. Now, if the spell on the item is beneficial and it does not land, the charge will not be consumed. \n- Drakkin should now revert to a walk/run animation after dismounting. \n\n*** Previously Hotfixed *** \n\n- Added the rank XIV potions to the appropriate vendors. \n- The Dragorn in Kuua have become strangely weaker. It appears the Muramite forces may have gained the upper hand. \n- Fixed the ability for many NPCs in Korafax, both mission and base zone, to allow them to summon as intended. \n- Ganak's advisors will now assist each other in a manner that does not alert as many of their allies. \n- Increased the spawn rate of many rare NPCs in Kuua. \n- Most rare (\"named\") NPCs in Seeds of Destruction zones will now summon players they hate. \n- Corrupted Beguilers in the \"The Price of Knowledge\" mission will now chose the most hated player to update the task instead of the most hated entity, which might have been a pet or a mercenary. \n- The \"Holding the Fort\" mission will now not spawn the attack until you first speak with General Vurig. \n- The tormentors in the task \"Inside information\" take longer to arrive once their numbers begin increasing. \n- Pallorax in discord will now start over if the players take too long to engage him after he moves between portals. \n- The adds in the \"Showdown at the Crystal Core\" raid will now spawn a bit more quickly. This is to raise the difficulty to be closer to the intended difficulty. \n- The dwarves in the Showdown at the Crystal Core raid now insist on staying near their post and will no longer chase players too far from their camps. \n- The Venomlord's event will now start over if players fail to engage him again within one minute of him becoming idle. \n- Merchant Woad now carries the new energeian supplies. \n- Replaced Broken Battle Blades with Sundered Blade Shards on forage tables. \n- Fixed an issue that prevented some items from being placed in the potion belt. \n\n*** UI *** \n\n- The target window should now align with bottom of the player window. \n- The font combobox in the options window should no longer be overlapped by the label \"Confirmations\". \n- Added Style_Tooltip to SIDL.xml this now allows for turning on or off the tooltip window for certain UI elements. \n- Alt + Left clicking buff icons should now display the information correctly. \n- Buff icons should now tile correctly in the Buff Window. \n- Added the ability for scroll bars to automatically hide when not needed (See Style_AutoVScroll and Style_AutoHScroll) \n- Tabs can now be hidden on tab boxes. \n- Added \"TileLayoutBox\" which allows for automatically laying out components in both the vertical and horizontal directions at the same time. This is similar to the Horizontal and Vertical layout boxes. \n\n- Changed - \n\nEQUI.xml \nEQUI_Animations.xml \nEQUI_BodyTintWnd.xml \nEQUI_BuffWindow.xml \nEQUI_OptionsWindow.xml \nEQUI_PetInfoWindow.xml \nEQUI_PotionBeltWnd.xml \nEQUI_SelectorWnd.xml \nEQUI_ShortDurationBuffWindow.xml \nEQUI_TargetWindow.xml \nEQUI_Templates.xml \nSIDL.xml \n\n~ The EverQuest Team","content_hash":"2525eec0d1feaf9cdd06e248f2634fb41ffae532787e006318914d03053401bc","source_files":["patches-2008-2.txt","patches_1999-2008_combined.md","patches_1999-2010_combined.txt"],"source_titles":["December 9, 2008"],"source_url":null,"source_urls":[],"occurrence_count":3,"source_occurrences":[{"occurrence_id":"fa783c2003a7d2510d1d502dfbae3d9bcf25fed7452ae70f91ecda00a595ca13","filename":"patches_1999-2008_combined.md","adapter":"markdown","source_offset":1070575,"item_index":null,"heading":"December 9, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"markdown","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false},{"occurrence_id":"21341fa1093c46999a42077323ca5f489bb7f0ac0b4e42c8cb6bd44759cd4fd9","filename":"patches_1999-2010_combined.txt","adapter":"text","source_offset":1096012,"item_index":null,"heading":"December 9, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"text","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false},{"occurrence_id":"814aac0a902fd31171c8dca8b6ae86fcabd4b2e02a19b0d8791c9e3377ad5145","filename":"patches-2008-2.txt","adapter":"text","source_offset":54487,"item_index":null,"heading":"December 9, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"text","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false}],"year_inferred":false,"sequence":1,"slug":"2008-12-09-1","id":"2008-12-09-1"},{"patch_date":"2008-11-21","effective_date":"2008-11-21","display_date":"November 21, 2008","title":"November 21, 2008","year":2008,"month":11,"kind":"live","era":"EverQuest Live","expansion":"Seeds of Destruction","expansion_code":"seeds-of-destruction","categories":[{"slug":"bug-fixes","label":"Bug Fixes"},{"slug":"quests-events","label":"Quests & Events"},{"slug":"servers","label":"Servers"},{"slug":"expansions","label":"Expansions"}],"sections":["Hotfix","Quests","Test Server","Live Servers"],"change_count":11,"word_count":354,"summary":"Hotfix *** Quests *** Corrected an issue with the task Beat the Blackburrow Boss that could cause some players to not get task updates. This rift leads to a bleak prophecy of the end of existence. The world of Norrath lies in ruins. The planet has shattered into millions of shards, spinning in a silent void around the rapidly blackening star of Ro.\n\nIn the wreckage on a small shard of the world, a lone figure sits quietly tending a small seedling growing between the rocks. The lone figure is none other than the fallen god Zebuxoruk. \n\nZebuxoruk is certainly insane, but has a unique insight into the current state of the world and possibly might hold the knowledge to guide adventurers in the quest to prevent the destruction of Norrath. Only he can direct adventurers towards specific moments in time where the armies of Discord were able to disrupt the timeline. \n\nIf they are able to stop the forces of Discord, the destruction in The Void will slowly be repaired. If not, all hope will be lost. \n\n- Level Cap Increase: Players can now achieve level 85. New high level item sets, new Alternate Advancement ability lines, new spells, and new skill caps come with this increase. \n\n- New Content: New themed realms for adventurers to explore including Oceangreen, Bloody Kithicor, Field of Bone, Invasion of Earth, Kuua, and Discord. Travel through the rift in Time solo, with a group, or in raids to complete new quests, tasks, and events to acquire new items, spells, tradeskill recipes, and abilities. \n\n- Mercenaries: Mercenaries are NPCs for hire that will aid adventurers in their heroic endeavors. Their levels and abilities will scale appropriately and they will think and act for themselves with limited player guidance. They are designed for extra support or extra muscle in PvE encounters. \n\nUnlike player pets, these NPCs are not directly controllable by players, though the player can give them general orders, but rather function like a normal party member including taking up a group slot and taking a share of the experience. \n\nMercenary Liaisons can be found in all starting cities and will allow you to hire mercenaries based on their race. The Liaisons within the Plane of Knowledge and Oceangreen Village will allow you to hire mercenaries of any player race. These merchants can be found using the Find ability. \n\nBefore purchasing a mercenary be sure to read the descriptions, cost value, and restrictions. There are different levels and tiers available. Some mercenaries may not available until you have completed certain content but there are some apprentice and journeyman ones available to all. \n\nThere are two classes of Mercenaries available - Tank and Healer. \n\nHealer Mercenary: Healer mercenaries prefer to heal their owner and others in the group rather than engage directly in combat. These mercenaries can also resurrect players upon death. \n\nTank Mercenary: Tank mercenaries prefer to melee. They will taunt if it is set to the main tank role. Though it will still attack and behave as a secondary tank if it is not set as main tank. \n\nMercenaries can be suspended like a pet. There are some zones that will automatically suspend your mercenaries upon entering the zone. \n\n*** Live Highlights *** \n\n- New Statue in Guild Hall: As a part of SOE's EverQuest and EverQuest II Living Legacy celebration that took place this summer, SOE and the Legends of Norrath team searched for two enthusiastic players who have what it takes to be immortalized in their favorite MMOs! Everyone was invited to submit their photos for this special contest. Out of all the submissions, Khyandys Aramyndan of the Altruistic Valorians guild on the Erollisi Marr server was selected as the winner for EverQuest! Her photo was transformed to a Legends of Norrath card and a statue of her character was placed within the Guild Hall in EverQuest! Congratulations Khyandys! \n\n*** Items *** \n\n- Altered the merchant value of the unfired and sealed Energeian Orbs. \n\n*** AA *** \n\n- The \"Elemental Form\" AA lines have had their reuse delay reduced to 30 seconds. \n- Added Cleric, Paladin, Druid, Beastlord and Ranger to the Quick Buff line. \n- Changed Spell Casting Deftness to a 10%, 25% and 50% cast time haste to match Quick Buff. \n- Focused Paragon of Spirit now requires players to purchase rank 3 of Paragon of Spirit before they can purchase the Focused Version. This will not impact anyone who currently has Focused Paragon. \n\n*** NPCs *** \n\n- Citizens of Shadowhaven now proudly advertise the services they offer. \n- Raid NPCs are now immune to Song of the Highsun. \n- All guildmasters will now train research to skill 20 if the player is the appropriate level to gain the research skill. \n\n*** Tradeskills *** \n\nA few new sets of items and recipes have been created for Tradeskills along with a few standard upgrades. \n\n- Alchemy potions have been upgraded to level 85 and a few more illusion potions have been added. \n- Baking received a new meat, with recipes to go along with it. \n- Absinthe and another high-powered drink have been added in for Brewing. \n- Jewelcraft received a new metal for the next power level of jewelry. There is also a new type of base jewelry for gold and up. \n- Jewelcrafting, fletching, and pottery now play a major support role for smithing and tailoring. \n- All Energeian power sources can now be made with pottery, including the raid power sources. \n- New weapon recipes have been added for Smithing and Tailoring. These weapons are similar to cultural armor, but without the race/deity restrictions. \n- A few new recipes have been added for Tinkerers to create some handy devices. \n- Many spells have been added for Research, up to TSS Rank 2. \n- Tome research has been implemented, which means that melee classes will be able to research tomes. All classes now have access to the research skill. \n-- Int caster classes will still be able to research all spells and songs for all classes. They are not able to research melee tomes. \n-- Pure melee classes will be able to research all tomes for all classes. \n-- Priest classes will be able to research spells that are usable by any priest class. \n-- Hybrid classes will be able to research any spell or tome that can be used by any hybrid class. \n-- Bards will be able to research any spell, tome, or song that can be used by any hybrid class. \n\n*** Miscellaneous *** \n\n- Corpses will now automatically decay after you receive an experience-granting resurrection while in hover mode. \n- Corrected an issue that caused NPCs to not receive full damage when multiple projectiles hit them at the exact same time. \n\n*** UI *** \n\n- Things that shouldn't have a con color (corpses, boats, etc.) will no longer display with a white con in the target window. \n- Re-arranged the General Options tab to allow for more options. \n\n- Changed - \n\nEQUI_OptionsWindow.xml \nEQUI_GroupWindow.xml \nEQUI_ConfirmationDialog.xml \n\n*** Previously Updated through Hotfixes *** \n\n- The Darkpaw quest givers in Oceangreen Hills are now marked as such. \n- Oceangreen Hills: Fixed an issue with Captain Hiran Tillin where players could do his quests out of order and potentially cause progression problems with their characters. \n- Apothecary Cadmael in Oceangreen Village no longer stocks Black Pearls, Black Sapphires, Diamonds or Quintessences of Knowledge. \n\n- The EverQuest Team","content_hash":"faee69ef9fc132416c3ef5103b45e55a0ad57c0a58201183e9fed22368ee9c6a","source_files":["patches-2008-2.txt","patches_1999-2008_combined.md","patches_1999-2010_combined.txt"],"source_titles":["October 21, 2008"],"source_url":null,"source_urls":[],"occurrence_count":3,"source_occurrences":[{"occurrence_id":"c5b196115a6dbb2a228fb6063e4df856d777e2e8707e395b39b17a27d9b64d03","filename":"patches_1999-2008_combined.md","adapter":"markdown","source_offset":1053418,"item_index":null,"heading":"October 21, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"markdown","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false},{"occurrence_id":"6b4314a355455a6a56239b88d777b67ba50e860f70c1c168b5ebafea213cf417","filename":"patches_1999-2010_combined.txt","adapter":"text","source_offset":1078591,"item_index":null,"heading":"October 21, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"text","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false},{"occurrence_id":"65037ac19f0585aa53183b7898f478fe637d4d494ee82ec1444ad556f87ee93c","filename":"patches-2008-2.txt","adapter":"text","source_offset":37066,"item_index":null,"heading":"October 21, 2008","source_url":null,"source_url_raw":null,"published":null,"source_kind":"text","excerpt":false,"year_inferred":false}],"year_inferred":false,"sequence":1,"slug":"2008-10-21-1","id":"2008-10-21-1"}]}
